Artists

Grace Tan
Grace Tan uses elements of design, art and mathematical thinking to produce works that explore the meaning and relationships between materials and forms. In 2003 she investigated the structures and methodologies of wearable fabrics by focusing on pleats, attracting attention with her sculptural series “the “kwodrent.” Ever since, Tan has continued to return to material, form and structure to produce works that straddle categories such as fine art, assemblage and object. Her dynamic installation works and spatial architecture has meant Tan’s impressive reputation as an artist representative of Singapore has gained momentum both in Japan and overseas in recent years, spreading beyond the realm of fashion.
Around 35 key works produced by Tan over the last 15 years, ranging from early works to her latest pieces, will be on exhibit here. Encounter a variety of forms, colors and textures born from these handmade works spread throughout the gallery space.
