Artists

Shunrin Katsukawa et al.
Shunrin Katsukawa was an artist affiliated with the Katsukawa school of Japanese ukiyo-e art, of which Hokusai was also a member. At this time Katsukawa was active, ukiyo-e typically incorporated satirical subject matter, exemplified through works such as “Inu kubo (Dog shogunate),” which suggests criticism and a show of resistance against figures of power. Enjoy the Edo flavor of these works this spring.
