Naoki Ishikawa
Naoki Ishikawa (b. 1977) is an accomplished mountain climber who trekked from the North Pole to the South Pole at age 22 and scaled the world’s seven highest summits by age 23. He continues to travel the globe, photographing its people and places with an ethnological eye. His photography and film works includes the series “Polar” capturing the lives of people in the Arctic, “New Dimension” documenting the remains of prehistoric murals around the world, “Corona,” an account of the islands of the Polynesian Triangle, and “K2,” an expedition to the world’s second-highest peak on the far-western edge of the Himalayas. This exhibition surveys the career of this intrepid adventurer and offers new ways of seeing our planet through his unique lens.
