The mission of Prix Pictet Japan Award is to support up-and-coming Japanese photographers who show a passion for sustainability in their work. The award was founded in 2015 by the Prunier Foundation in response to Japan as a country that has produced a long line of world-class photographers. Previous recipients have been Tomoko Kikuchi (2015) and Lieko Shiga (2017), with the next to be awarded in 2020.
