Mingei – Another Kind of Art

21_21 Design Sight
Finished
The exhibition will feature over 150 traditional and contemporary “mingei” folk-craft items, primarily from the Japan Folk Crafts Museum’s collection, selected by Naoto Fukasawa, the director of both 21_21 Design Sight and the museum. The show will also highlight films of interviews and with people on the creative frontline, as well as photographs capturing new expressions in mingei and invaluable archives dating back to the museum’s establishment.
Through a myriad of displays, this exhibition will unravel the story of mingei, another kind of art that is also a foundation for future design inspiration.
