Stylish Old-Imari Ware Pottery Designed to Edo Tastes

Developed around the dawn of the Edo Period in the early 1600s, Imari ware became Japan’s first domestically produced ceramics. These works were popular among daimyos and aristocrats, as well as Europeans, and were designed to fit the lifestyles of Edo culture. Examples of Imari ware demonstrating styles common to Edo-period popular lifestyles are on display.
