Genzou “Photopia / Scotopia – Tokyo”

Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo
Finished

Artists

Kio Griffith, Tamaki Hosobuchi
The metropolis of Tokyo is a living colossus, a restless beast in continuous and boundless exposure. The implicit desire of the city will accelerate as we move on to the year 2020, and it will not stop at the changes to city planning or architectural development; it will unconsciously permeate its way into the very cells of the urbanites. “Photopia” and “Scotopia” are visual phenomena which allow us to perceive “light” and “dark” in particular situations and locations. Genzou’s 4th issue is a socio-photo-cartographic project exploring the limits of an aggregating image-mapping process from photographs taken of Tokyo.
