Michael Kenna
This retrospective of renown landscape photographer Michael Kenna is his first in Japan. With over 450 solo exhibitions and 70 published photo collection titles, Kenna is one of the world’s most popular photographers working today. This exhibition covers 45 years of Kenna’s career with a selection of his most representative work. Exhibited works include many shot in Japan during numerous visits to the country. His work also goes beyond beautiful landscapes and includes nuclear power plants, abandoned factories, and even the remnants of 28 Nazi Germany concentration camps taken over a 12-year period from 1988. This exhibition will also show for the first time in Japan the series “Impossible to Forget”, a series of nude photos taken in traditional Japanese houses. All 165 of the exhibiting photographs are originals hand printed by Kenna himself in his own darkroom.
