2018 marks the 190th anniversary of the death of Hoitsu Sakai, an Edo-era pioneer of the Rimpa School, and the 160th anniversary of the death of Kiichi Suzuki, a student of Sakai’s. This special exhibition focusing on Korin Ogata and Hoitsu Sakai looks at the Rimpa tradition, tracing its lineage through the modern and contemporary eras as seen in the works of Nihonga painters and Japanese designers.

Displayed works alternated between Part I (May 12–June 3) and Part 2 (June 5–July 8)
