Ryota Unno
Ryota Unno uses Nihonga painting techniques to create satirical contemporary works. In the centerpiece of this exhibition, he presents a tatami mat banquet hall, a place where traditionally people of all walks of life would come together to eat and communicate. Here Unno examines the ironies of contemporary life from a broad perspective, defining many of its problems while applying an especially Japanese kind of wit. Works on display include a four-meter picture scroll and other creations that could only be produced by Unno for this space.
