Yukinori Maeda
“Ryugu” or dragon palaces, the imaginary places where the “ryujin” or dragon gods reside, are said to be deep in caves or the bottom of the ocean or in a far away place beyond the horizon. The artist calls his thatched roof home and atelier in the hilly Kyoto countryside ryugu because he believes it lies between this world and the next. This exhibition is an installation made of water, stones, and thatched roof grass, soot from the hearth, and other material from his ryugu and the surrounding countryside.
