The exhibition title “Pretty Waste” refers not to the works of art that these artists are creating, but to factors in contemporary life that divert their attention during the process of production. Rather than ignoring what’s going on around them, however, they latch onto this “noise,” using it to create the works you see here. What does it mean to live in the present day and to produce artworks while looking it at contemporary life head on?
