The Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Exhibition Spaces in Tomi, Niigata and Tokyo present exhibitions for the painter Kuniji Kobayashi, who was born a century ago this year. Fifty works including oil paintings, drawings, and more offer a look back on Kobayashi’s 75-year body of work, which was once described by the Akutagawa Prize-winning author Yoshinori Yagi as embodying an “honest wildness.”
