Photographer Bertrand Fevre works in black and white prints. His father printed works for famous photographers such as Henri Cartier Bresson, Josef Koudelka, and Sebastião Salgado. He started his career before the age of 20 as a fashion photographer and has worked as a video artist for more than 40 years. He shot the 1988 film “Chet’s Romance” after a chance encounter with the jazz musician. The work won praise as a top documentary at the Cannes Film Festival as well as the César du cinéma français award. This exhibition presents photography from the film for the first time in Japan as well as images of stage scenes with Baker and other jazz musicians such as Miles Davis and James Carter in Cuba in the 1960s. 40 black and white images are on display with rare original prints available for purchase.
