In ancient India, horses were revered as gods of power or holy animals ridden by the gods. These beliefs influenced Japanese Buddhism, as well. This exhibition features wooden and copper sculptures featuring the Horse-Headed Kannon, paintings of horse deities, and other items showing people’s reverence for horses.
