Salamanders are the main motif in the work of Yuki Inoue, who is interested in the theme of evolution. His freely imagined stone sculptures take a bird’s-eye-view of contemporary society, presenting it sometimes poetically and sometimes critically. These new pieces exploring incompatible elements offer glimpses of the future in their opposing historical and philosophical ideas. Inoue offers Heiwa-inspired hopes for the new Reiwa era.
