With the 125th anniversary of the Lumiere brothers’ invention of filmmaking coming up in 2020, this exhibition looks back on the origins of movies and moving pictures. In addition to screenings of the world’s first film by the Lumieres, masterpieces such as “A Voyage to the Moon” and “The Gold Rush,” and Japan’s oldest animation, “Namakura Katana,” other films from the dawn of cinema through the talkies of the 1920s are introduced.
