The Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art honors artists carrying on the spirit of the avant-garde artist Taro Okamoto by creating works that present sharp messages to society based on unfettered ideas and unique viewpoints. The award, which is now in its 22nd year, attracted 416 submitted artworks, and prizes have been given to 25 artists.
