Impressionism and Beyond – Master Paintings from the Yoshino Gypsum Collection

Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall et al.
Noted for its high quality, the Yoshino Gypsum collection is not only prominent in Japan, it is also among the best in the world with holdings of graceful and familiar works by Renoir, Monet, Picasso, and Chagall, among others. This exhibition introduces a selection of paintings from the carefully curated Yoshino Gypsum collection.
The pastels by Renoir, Degas, and Cassatt, who are mostly associated with oils and broken brush strokes, throw new light on the characteristically rich techniques of these Impressionist artists. The exhibition introduces 72 carefully selected works including early and late works by Monet, Pissarro, and Chagall, Sisley’s colorful landscapes from the 1880s, and landscapes by Picasso not on display elsewhere.
