Recombinant Imamiya

Kyoto Institute of Technology - Kyoto Design Lab Tokyo Gallery
Finished
Kyoto Design Lab [D-lab] will hold the Exhibition “Recombinant Imamiya”, based on the workshop “VR Kyoto: Reconstruction of virtual Kyoto (Augmented, Immersive and Mobile Kyoto)” conducted with Associate Professor Takehiko Nagakura of MIT Computational Group, at KYOTO Design Lab Tokyo Gallery.

Buildings that cannot be separated from their premises cannot be displayed at museums, so they have been represented using various media, such as building models and images and sound. However, with traditional expression methods, there is an unintended gap between the real experience of buildings and the exhibition experience. In this exhibition, new media expressions such as virtual reality and augmented reality will be combined to provide visitors with experiences close to actual experiences at Imamiya-Jinja Shrine in Kyoto City.
