Takuya Ikezaki, Makiko Matsutani
Takuya Ikezaki, based in New York since last year, presents “The Address on The Address” created on parcels and mail he has received at his new address. He draws cycadophyte leaves or waves that remind him of his longed-for hometown in the south part of Japan. The waves are sometimes made with handmade stamps, and some of these works are colorfully painted. While excessive packaging bought through internet normally goes straight into bins, Ikezaki treats them delicately and transforms them into the irreplaceable artworks reflecting his current address and his origins.

Makiko Masutani depicts the plants at the botanical garden in Shinjuku-Gyoen, which is located in central Tokyo surrounded by skyscrapers and shops offering sexual services. She draws the plants and the colourful neon signs in single works, their delicate pencil strokes reminding us of human nature in brave compositions. Masutani attempts to cover the wall with hand-stamped wallpaper at this show.
