*The Japan Newspaper Museum will be open from June 2.

With the ascension of the next emperor to the throne, 2019 marked the beginning of a new era. Sports news saw landmark events such as Japan’s amazing run at the Rugby World Cup and the first overseas major win by a Japanese golfer in 42 years. The year also saw its share of tragedy such as the arson of Kyoto Animation. 300 photographs of these and other events shot and captured in 2019 by press photographers from 35 newspapers and other media outlets belonging to the Tokyo Press Photographers Association will be on exhibit.
