The artist Yumeji Takehisa (1884–1934) lived through three eras of Japanese history: the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods. In addition to being an illustrator, he also produced works of poetry and design in the Romanticist style. As the current Heisei period comes to a close, this exhibition looks back on the dramatic charm of Takehisa’s life and work.
