David Maurissen “Incunabula”
Ends in 9 days
Vlek is a record label in Brussels, Belgium. It began in 2011 as a label releasing noise, techno, electro, house music, etc. and became known for releasing highly experimental titles. David Maurissen, one of vlek’s establishing members, manages the label, as well as designing a number of the label’s original record jackets and printing them mainly by letterpress printing. Besides his works for vlek, he has created artworks also by letterpress. This exhibit displays the record jackets David Maurissen designed for vlek, as well as some private artworks he printed himself. The exhibition’s title, Incunabula, also refers to the early printed matter created in the 15th century after Gutenberg, and is also the title of the first album of Autechre, an English techno unit that influenced Maurissen. This title symbolizes Maurisse’s work, which involves both music and printing. At the venue, vlek’s records, artwork, and exhibit posters will be on sale.
