Yamatane Museum of Art Nihonga Award: Seed 2019

Yamatane Museum of Art
Finished
The Yamatane Museum of Art instituted the Yamatane Museum of Art Award in 1971 as part of its efforts to encourage and promote nihonga. The results were presented in the Yamatane Museum of Art Award: Contemporary Nihonga exhibitions, which were held fourteen times, every other year between 1971 and 1997. In 2016, to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of its founding, the museum relaunched the award, adhering to its original purpose but implementing it in a new format, a juried public entry exhibition.

This exhibition presents the forty-four works that were nominated for awards, including these prize-winning works. Through the work of these young artists, of whom we have high expectations, we hope visitors will be able to sense a new energy and a positive future for nihonga.
