Alcohol is a staple of Japan’s economy and culture. From shochu to wine, beer, whisky, and other spirits, this exhibit considers how breweries and liquor production in Japan’s 47 prefectures vary according to water types, climate, traditions, technologies, and other regional factors. One drink from each prefecture is introduced.
