This event has ended.

Kei Suzuki, who expresses women’s constraints and freedoms in her paintings combining oils and gofun pigments, creates stories for each of her exhibitions. Her detailed narratives with implications for the modern world often feature women in a fictional land called Belgat. The works in this show reference symbols of everyday life, including textiles used in wallpaper and clothing, while resisting an overdone femininity. They are inspired by the play “Airswimming” by the British dramatist Charlotte Jones.
