Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art holds a collection of some 2,800 pieces, mainly by artists with ties to Chiba Prefecture. Chu Asai, a leading modern oil painter from the Sakura domain, is at the heart of this exhibition, as are works by Asai’s associates including Jean-François Millet and other members of the Barbizon School, Nihonga paintings such as a Prefectural Tangible Asset by Rinkyo Ishii, and crafts. A selection of 25 works are displayed. The show highlights interactions among artists.
