Naoki Oji’s photography captures people, plants, animals, signs, buildings, and other features of places with an unpretentious straightforwardness combined with blurring effects. His snapshots from the Tokara Islands of Kagoshima and Kawasaki City have a silliness and wit mixed with feelings of loneliness that poignantly evoke these places. His photobooks “Tokara” and “Kawasaki” are available.
