This event has ended.

Presenting the works of the award-winning Chinese contemporary artist Ma Jiahao. “Liao,” the title of this exhibition, can mean both the mourning of cultural cleansing and a rapidly spreading fire, referring to the politically motivated questioning of artworks and freedom of expression following the arrival of popularism. This exhibition deals with the theme of mass organized violence. Displays include miniature figurines representing thousands of people, a mixed media installation modeled after Notre Dame, and “Gates of Hell,” a two-meter work that took the artist a year to make.
