Keisuke Serizawa
Soetsu Yanagi focused on the powerful beauty of Ainu people’s creation from early on, holding the Ainu Crafts and Culture Exhibition in 1941. This was the first Ainu crafts exhibition in an art museum. Keisuke Serizawa (1895-1984), a world-famous dyer, was in charge of installation at the exhibition, and he also highly appreciated the beauty of Ainu handicrafts. On this occasion, the collection of the Museum as well as that of Serizawa will be on display, introducing the vigorous imagination and profound creativity of the Ainu people.
