Presenting editioned works by renowned German artist Gerhard Richter spanning fifty years. Richter is one of the most popular artists leading in contemporary art, and many people say that he is the greatest artist in Germany. He has various styles of works, but two of his major techniques are “photo paintings,” which stretch an image from a newspaper or a magazine on a canvas, and “overpainted photos,” which are paintings on photos. We can say that these works express his attempts to explore the significance and boundaries of photographs and paintings.
