Four Revolutions - From Aubrey Beardsley to Salvador Dali

Takasaki Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Aubrey Vincent Beardsley, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali et al.
In Europe, from the latter half of the 19th-century to the beginning of the 20th-century, revolutionary forms of expression appeared one after another, overturning the previous concept of “art”. These new forms of expression made a decisive change in people’s vision and spirit, creating a trend toward contemporary art. This exhibition introduces four revolutions in modern European art from Aubrey Beardsley’s aesthetics at the end of the 19th century to Pablo Picasso’s visual experiment called Cubism in the early 20th century to the surrealists such as Salvador Dali to the cosmopolitan pioneers of the Ecole de Paris.
