Rethinking Postwar Japanese Documentary Films

National Film Archive of Japan
Finished
※The exhibition period has been shortened. (Originally 2019/12/13–3/8).
*National Film Archive of Japan is temporarily closed from Feb. 29.

Japan has a long and rich history of non-fiction film. From 1997 to 2005, this institute, then known as the National Film Center, held a series of 4 non-fiction film screenings. After a 15-year absence, this event marks the return of an event focusing on Japanese documentary film, specifically the post-war period. This event will feature 66 films each urging us to rethink Japanese documentary filmmaking.
