This exhibition brings together a wide variety of photographic expressions by Okinawa’s leading artists to convey the appeal of Okinawan photography. Okinawa’s history differs from that of other regions in Japan, and the islands have fostered their own unique culture. These diverse works, produced by living in Okinawa photographers who focus their lens on Okinawa, gaze across the entire Ryukyu Arc (the islands connected in an arc from the Amami Islands to the Yaeyama Islands) to reveal the richness of the islands as well as their unique struggles.
