*Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Japan, we have taken the decision to accept admissions by appointment only until further notice. Please also note that the gallery’s open hours has been changed, we are now opened from 12:00 to 17:00.

Kotaro Nukaga is pleased to highlight works by two contemporary women artists, Inka Essenhigh and Mariko Kobayashi, from its alternative show at the gallery in response to the cancellation of the Art Fair Tokyo 2020.

Inka Essenhigh is a New York-based artist who utilizes organic and painterly movement and applies it to capture sceneries from nature and urban cityscapes. Her use of rich hues portrays a mystified world that we have yet to encounter. Essenhigh’s works were presented for three months at the Susquehanna Art Museum in Pennsylvania.

Japanese textile artist Mariko Kobayashi incorporates methods of textiles such as weaving, dyeing, knitting and stitching in her works. She renders essential forms of life through the chaotic effect created by overlaying multiple layers of different materials in various shapes and colors.

Also on display are works by Nir Hod, Tony Matelli, and the latest works by Tomokazu Matsuyama.
