The artist Tokitama has been producing her “Words of Toki” postcard series weekly since 1993. Like a photographer with a camera, Tokitama uses language to capture “snapshots” of the world. In 2015 she started a new series of “Puratama” plastic sculptures that now includes more than 1500 pieces.
This exhibition celebrates “Tane,” the artist’s new book of iPhone photography. Tokitama captured serendipitous moments she encountered while walking around Tokyo and various places across Japan. While most of the displayed photographs are featured in the book, some are others from the collection of around 5,000 images taken between 2006 and May, 2020.
