First retrospective of Tomoyoshi Murayama (1901-1977), whose avant-garde activities influenced Japanese modern art in the 1920-30s. After coming back from Berlin in 1923, Murayama joined the group "Mavo". He is well-known for works featuring collage figures and dance performances, as well as stage designs and illustrations for children books. The exhibition surveys not only those rare works that Murayama made by himself, but also works by Kandinsky and Klee, those who influenced Murayama during his stay in Berlin, and other colleages, such as Tomoo Wadachi and Yoshimitsu Nagano.
