In its first year, TCAF 2007 has shown mostly Tokyo based galleries, including several Chinese and Korean galleries, bringing it closer to Art Fair Tokyo in character: nominally international, and without the edge of the 100% domestically-oriented Art@Agnes. On the first evening of the fair the atmosphere was quiet and calm, and in the eyes of a visitor of Tokyo’s contemporary art galleries, most galleries exhibiting appeared just a little less than contemporary.

Hi Aneta, thanks for your efforts regarding the latest movements in the Japanese contemporary art scene.
It would be nice to read some comments of the participating gallery owners and the organizer. We would love to know about your favorites by picking up some personally interesting art works.
Please keep on writing, cheers!

thanks Mario.
I’ll do my best, as long as I’m in Tokyo. Don’t forget that there are plenty of other TABlog writers you should also keep an eye on and comment. They write a lot more than me these days.
Also, we love to hear what our readers want to read about, so thanks for you request.
I’m working on a video interview now with a young Japanese artist. I hope to put it up within next week or so. Hope you’ll comment.

Art@Agnes is coming up very soon. It is very domestic, so there is no English on the website, but galleries showing and the space are very interesting.(mid-January)
101 Tokyo is being held for the first time, but might turn out the most interesting of all, very international.(April)
And there is Art Fair Tokyo, which has been around for a while and you can read about it here on TABlog.
