Up Close and Personal
Prado has launched its own layer on Google Earth, allowing visitors to explore some of the Spanish museum’s masterpieces online. Prado is the first art gallery in the world to allow virtual access in this way. See the museum’s website for more.

Out on the Town
Various museums and galleries around Roppongi are to hold Roppongi Art Night on March 28-29. Participants will be able to hunt for art works placed around the area and take part in a parade of one thousand glowing balloons. Exhibitors include the irrepressible Kenji Yanobe and Katsuhiko Hibino. See the festival’s website or TAB for further details of events.

Comeback Kids
To coincide with their “Hiroshima!” exhibition at vacant in March, Chim↑Pom (reviewed here on TABlog) are publishing a book (‘Why Are We Not Allowed to Write “Pika” in the Sky?’) examining the issues behind their controversial project last year. The art collective faced hostility when they performed a sky drawing in Hiroshima, much like the Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang’s aerial explosions, resulting in the cancelling of a major exhibition. See Chim↑Pom’s website for further details.

The One and Ono
Yoko Ono has been awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale, honoring her lifetime’s achievement in art, as reported here on TABlog.
