I WANT TO VISIT…

Natsuyuki Nakanishi “Behind, Circle” at SCAI The Bathhouse
I really like Natsuyuki Nakanishi. He has such a certainty.

“Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi 2009″ at Gyoko-dori Underground Gallery
I’ve been asked to give a talk and am really looking forward to the event.

“Musashino Art University 80th Anniversary: Metamorphosis – Objects Today – vol.1″ at gallery αM
Musashino run this non-profit gallery in Bakurocho. (Mohiro) Kitoh and (Teppei) Kaneuji…there’s gonna be a lot of familiar faces among the artists.

I WENT TO…

“Mixed Bathing World”, Beppu Contemporary Art Festival 2009
You can see humanity’s way of living in the concept of the onsen.

“FRESH EXPAND” at URBAN BACK-SIDE LABORATORY (Chiba)
I introduced this artist group at 101Tokyo and have big hopes for them.

I LIKE GOING TO…

Itasoba Kaoriya (Ebisu)
You can chill out. When you’ve finished up something or just want to relax you can go there morning or night. The udon is also great.

SuperDeluxe (Roppongi)
Here is where I put on my “magical, TV” event. The staff are great people and their programming is also really good.

I AM SURFING…

WIRED VISION
Because you can encounter the strange things people are talking about.

Someone’s Garden
I am looking at what Daisuke Nishimura [Editor-in-Chief] is doing.

I AM OBSERVING…

Events for the total eclipse
It’s a phenomenon, so for sure I want to see what it’s like!

Tokyo Helloz and Mansosha
I think the Tokyo rock scene has really taken off now.

I AM READING…

Laura De Coppet & Alan Jones, Tetsuo Kinoshita (trans) Art Dealer (Parco) (1988)
It’s interviews with the early NY gallerists. Each one is so full of character!
(Amazon)

Noburo Tsubaki & Shigeo Goto What you should do before you make art (2009)
A talk between the two that can be read quickly, but is very thought-provoking.
(Amazon)

I AM USING…

EXILIM 930CA (SOFTBANK)
When my Nokia phone and Ericsson digital camera broke I changed to this, so useful because it is both things in one. The pixels on the images are so beautiful – I’m always taking snaps! (Softbank website)

TASCAM DR-1
I use it to record Podcasts. It’s not only for Wav but also mp3. You can get great sound quality.

MY HOT TIPS TO WATCH ARE…

Ichiro Endo
He’s intelligent, a stand-out. (Artist website)

Tadasuke Iwanaga
He’s intelligent and has got tenacity. (Artist blog)

Daisuke Ohba
Real fighting spirit! (Artist blog)

MY LAST COMMENT IS…

My encounters with interesting and curious things seem neverending! I am so grateful for this and want to have as much fun as possible.
