Failure in Venice?

Of course the week’s art news was dominated by coverage of the Venice Biennale. As widely reported, the US Pavilion and Bruce Nauman won the Golden Lion and Tobias Rehberger won Golden Lion for Best Artist.

However, there was little mention of Miwa Yanagi’s works in the Japanese Pavilion, though Yoko Ono and Ando Tado got some copy for their contributions elsewhere. No, it was all about Nauman, Steve McQueen and dancer William Forsythe, suggesting that Yanagi failed to make an impression. (One of the few write-ups includes a very negative one in New York Magazine.)

And another one…

Talking of Yoko Ono, Mrs. Lennon has been honoured with yet another prize, this time for her musical output. She received a lifetime achievement award at the Mojo Magazine Awards in London.

What’s all the fuss about?

Much ado about nothing? Or the most controversial art event of last year? Chim Pom open their “Hiroshima!!” show again, where the video of a plane drawing “pika” in the skies of the eponymous city will be exhibited. There is also a talk event on Sunday at 16:00.

Sadly, it has come to our attention that the magic room? cafe on the top floor of the NADiff building is no longer operating in daytime hours. Though it is business as usual in the evening, you won’t be able to enjoy a coffee after making your way through the galleries in the lower floors.

Their clothes may be cheap and cheerful, but their web pizzazz is exceptional. The UNIQLOCK was addictive. Wait till you see the UNIQLO calendar!

And another global giant just got more global. Google Earth has gone 3D in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe.
