New Art Map

The new TAB Art Map, our free handy guide to gallery-hopping, is now available at four hundred venues across the city. You can also download your copy as a PDF directly from TAB.

The next internet meme?

Do you like clinging? Are you a secret monkey? Actually, I think primates tend to hang but anyway…Project Cling is, as it sounds, a project intended to capture people clinging to objects, buildings and so on. Sounds a bit dry or even limited, but you’d be surprised at the amount of videos and the variety already uploaded. Park slides, subway trains, lampposts…Check out the site for samples and more information.

Yoshitomo Nara's alleged contribution to the New York cityscape.
Near miss

We had all been loosing sleep over the arrest in New York City of artist supremo Yoshitomo Nara (49), as we reported here on TABlog earlier in the year. What would the Tokyo art world do without their star? Well, we can all breath a sigh of relief. Nara kept his nose clean for six months and so charges have now been dropped. Phew.

Openings

The sleepy Japanese August is definitely over. Today (Saturday, September 5) sees a wealth of openings at major galleries: Mizuma Art Gallery (Naka-Meguro), the Kiyosumi Shirakawa building galleries (Taka Ishii, Tomio Koyama, Shugoarts), Radi-um and Cashi (neighbouring galleries in Bakurocho), Artlantico Gallery (Shibuya) and Gallery Countach (Shinjuku).
