Cross-over art

Tatsuo Miyajima is to create a set for Royal Opera House in November, reports Art Review. Expect lots of flashing LED digital numbers and sopranos in front of liquid interfaces.

TAB around the world

Our very own Darryl Jingwen Wee, a regular writer here on TABlog and one of the editors/translators of the events listings, was interviewed for a podcast commissioned by the Singapore Art Show 2009. In the talk he discussed TAB and the Art Map, along with the Tokyo art districts and more. Enjoy the Singlish!

PEACE is a project organized by Amnestie International and Buffet Libre. One hundred musicians from over fifty countries (including Ryuichi Sakamoto from Japan) will be contributing to a downloadable album, with all proceeds going to good causes. There is also a world club tour, free blogs and more. TAB has donated some t-shirts and they will be given away to clubbers in other parts of the globe.

Events

The Bossa/Ride Aoyama 2009 event starts from October 16, part of the annual Aoyama Matsuri happening throughout October and much of November. Aoyama will be transformed into a bicycle-friendly town, with places to park, a bicycle parade and a conceptual bike cafe. Check out the official Matsuri website for more details (in Japanese).

The Tokyo Graphic Passport Conference is happening this weekend at Kudan Kaikan and Belle Salle Harajuku. Expect TABlog coverage soon.

Also, the Kiyosumi Shirakawa gallery building has a bunch of openings tonight (Saturday October 10) from six, including at Tomio Koyama and Shugoarts.

TAB’s online store is now selling Chiso Memo Block, a really funky post-it note by Kenjiro Sano.
