This edition of TABuzz sees more of the performers at TAB’s fifth anniversary bash giving us their tips on what to see and do.
I WANT TO SEE
“A Visit to Luis Barragan’s House” exhibition at Watari Contemporary Art Museum (September 9 to January 24)
I’ve actually seen his buildings in Mexico several years ago, and liked his use of color and how he created space. I’m interested in how the museum has revived his work.
“The Okamoto’s Red” exhibition at Taro Okamoto Museum of Art (September 26 to January 11)
I’ve been to the museum before and loved the building space in the forest
CONDORS (dance)
I love watching dance performances. I’m also interested in Ryohei Kondo, the leader of the CONDORS. We both write blogs for ELLE online

“THIS IS IT”
I’ve got to see the last stage of the” King of Pop”!

I WENT TO…
“Design Tide Tokyo 2009″ at Tokyo Midtown
The exhibition was beyond my imagination. I was amazed by the process of how people “create design”
Ai Wei Wei, “According to What?” at Mori Art Museum (July 25 to November 8 )
He is so talented. I’m becoming interested more and more in the Contemporary art scene in China

I AM GOING TO…
Shinjuku Tocho area
My friend from South Africa actually took me there. I didn’t really like Shinjuku before, but I was overwhelmed by all the tall buildings around. I recommend people to go for a midnight stroll, maybe when there is a bit of rain.
Forest in Meiji Jingu
I go through the route whenever I walk from Harajuku to Yoyogi (vice versa). You can forget that you are in a city…

I AM READING…
“Venetia’s Ohara Herb Diary” by Venetia Stanley-Smith
At the moment I’m growing herbs on my small veranda, and this book tells me the smart ways to grow and use herbs.
“A Cheerful Gang Turns the Earth” Kotaro Isaka
I got the book for my birthday present. It’s a high-tempo thriller and fun book for easy reading.
I AM USING…
Zoom H2 Handy Recorder
Can easily record with it, so Shige and I use it a lot while making music.
YAMAHA CMX100
It’s a cassette MTR, and we got it at Rakuten auction. At the moment, we are trying to record in analog ways. Recording on a cassette tape has different tone to digital sound, and we enjoy experimenting.

I AM SURFING…
Otokomae Tofu official web site
I love the illustration and the music!
2nd Closet is an online free market site that opens each season for a limited time.
You can always get lucky finds for unbelievable prices. I’ve participated before as well!
I AM OBSERVING…
Improv Everywhere
Recently when I went to NY, my friend took part in this art event. At that time, about 500 people joined together and each person received a leash to walk an invisible dog around Brooklyn area. The content changes each time, and you don’t know what you’ll do until you assemble after receiving an invitation mail. I want to try it out one day!
MY HOT TIPS ARE…
Accessory and bag designer Masako Ban
She is particular about making all her works in Japan, and uses novel materials and traditional techniques to create her work. You can see her work in MoMA shops all over the world, yet is surprisingly not widely known in Japan. She has her own shop in Motoazabu, so if you have a chance to visit the shop, the charming designer herself might welcome you!

Takumi Yuge
Yuge is a laid back, attractive fashion designer. His work has great impact yet has a sense of traditional Japanese designIn the near future, I wish to see his work all over the world.

MY LAST COMMENT is…
We are so happy to be a part of the TAB fifth anniversary party for TAB. TAB is a site with a plenty of information on art, and it’s bilingual! We’ll let many people know about it! You should check out DadaD’s live as well!
DadaD
DadaD is a pop duo Kate (vo) and Shige (sound). They have a surreal atmosphere, and their harmony is surprisingly healing. If you move your body with their hip beat, before you know your mouth will water, entering their psychedelic world. Is DadaD a new kind of drug? DadaD became a boom from myspace. They have released their first album “Welcome to sha la la la la”, and have secretly been the talk of the town. Can’t wait for their new album!

Commenting on “your” comments”
You have very eclectic interests – an unusual mixture of art/music/travel experiences/hobbies: I assume the combination of these elements contribute to your original sound and novel presentation. However, I do not understand your desire to See Michael Jackson’s “King of Pop”. Living in California, I was forced to endure WEEKS of worthless news coverage, meaningless documentaries, and talk-show remembrances. Michael’s talent, his accomplishments, and pioneering style were respectable, but he’ll ultimately be forgotten… and replaced…like so many others before him. If you must watch it save your money and down load it from the web. Thanks for the interesting links: hope DadaD continues to be successful throughout 2010!
