Art Fair Tokyo gets new management

All change at the top for Japan’s largest art fair.

Recently it was announced that the Executive Director of Art Fair Tokyo would change from the long-serving Misa Shin to Takahiro Kaneshima.

It has been since been announced that some of the gallerists on the Art Committee have also changed, marking a kind of generational shift in the people in charge of Japan’s number one art fair. Atsuko Koyanagi (GALLERY KOYANAGI) and Shugo Satani (ShugoArts) have now stepped down, replaced by Tomoko Aratani and Mutsumi Urano (both from ARATANIURANO).

Art Fair Tokyo 2011 will be held next April. We published a photo report on this year’s fair in the spring.

the question is this: “Will there be any art there this time or will it mostly be department store picture level junk again as usual?”
