Aizumi Art Museum

Museum in The Shinjuku area

poster for Aizumi Art Museum

Aizumi Art Museum opened in March 2018 following the renovation of the home of economist Taiichi Sakaiya and his wife, the painter Chikako Ikeguchi. Works by Ikeguchi, a member of the Japan Art Academy, are the heart of its collection. Ikeguchi started out painting introspective portraits and still lifes before moving on to landscapes in Canada. She won further acclaim for her depictions of women and in recent years has produced distinctive paintings of Western Europe. The museum also holds occasional exhibitions of contemporary oil paintings.
