Art & River Bank proposes a new approach to presenting art in Japan where artist, curator and critique share an equally important role in the process of creating the exhibition. This is a reaction to the current Japanese situation where young artists can only present their work in hired spaces and are neglected or shadowed by the major programmed exhibitions. This situation is particularly problematic because of the small size of the market and the fact that programmed exhibitions for young artists are rare.
