This artist established his own style creating collages out of printed matter cut into pixel-like units and won a special commendation award at the Japan Graphics Exhibition in 1990. Since then, he has been exhibiting his works and winning awards in competitions all over the world. He is also active in CG production and has contributed toworks to various publications and programs such as the NHK special "The Universe: Journey to the Unknown" TV program.
This artist's works may look digital or similar to trick art at first glance. However, the final image is the result of painstaking work cutting out pieces from printed matter and putting them together to create a complete image. All this work is done by hand and with the aid of Japanese printing technology without which he says his work would be impossible. He uses the above "technique" to express his personal viewpoint. The artist urges viewers to look at the relationship between expressive "technique" and "content" in his work.
