"The Beauty of Western Furniture" Exhibition

Japan Folk-Craft Museum
Finished
The majority of the museum's furniture collection consists of British pieces that follow in the tradition of medieval times. Simple yet bold, these works speak of the beauty that flourished in the society of the time. This exhibition introduces viewers to the allure of Western furniture with a focus on 18th century British works through a display of chairs, chests and desks from Soetsu Yanagi's collection, along with a series of furniture pieces that belonged to the collection of the father of Matsumoto folk craft furniture, Sanshiro Ikeda.
